How does the Royal Ticket work?

With the Royal Edinburgh Ticket you can visit three top attractions in Edinburgh for free. You can also use the hop-on hop-off buses free of charge.

Buy the Royal Edinburgh Ticket online and show it on your phone at the starting point of the city tour. The staff on site will reserve a time slot ticket for the Edinburgh Castle for you. You can use the buses for 48 hours from the first trip. You can visit the other attractions at any time.

Can I use public transport?

No, the Royal Edinburgh Ticket does not allow you to use the city's public transport. However, you can ride the hop-on/hop-off buses run by Edinburgh Bus Tours for 48 hours.

Do I save money with the ticket?

Yes, if you use all the benefits of the Royal Edinburgh Ticket, you save up to £18.00 compared to individual tickets.

When should I buy the ticket?

You can buy the Royal Edinburgh Ticket at any time before you travel. Also, if you are already in Edinburgh, you can buy the ticket on the internet and save it on your phone.

Can I visit the attractions at any time?

You can visit the Royal Yacht Britannia at any time with the ticket. The yacht is open from Monday to Sunday. You can also visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse at any time during opening hours. The Palace is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (except from July to September). For Edinburgh Castle you get a ticket with time slot reservation. You can only visit the castle during this time slot.

Is there a Royal Ticket for children?

Yes, there is a reduced Royal Edinburgh Ticket for children between 5 and 15 years. Children under 5 do not need their own ticket.

Can I buy the ticket for more than one passenger?

Yes, you can buy as many Royal Edinburgh Tickets as you like in one booking process. After booking, you can forward the tickets to other travellers or print them out.

Can I cancel the purchase?

Yes, if you buy the Royal Edinburgh Ticket from our partner Tiqets.com, you can cancel the purchase up to the evening before your arrival. However, you will have to pay a fee for this service at the time of purchase.
